Ame is a woman pirate from a manga I'm going to be working on later. This is about as ladylike as she gets, which you will notice, is not much beyond the dress. In the original, she had her pinky pointing out to be faux-ladylike, but it looked too much like she was flipping someone off so I bent it in towards the hand more.

This is [a scan of] the a photocopy of the original, thus the poor line quality (which wasn't great to begin with), coloured with Copic markers. I was kind of playing with perspective a bit here, as well as folds, and in the coloured version, lightsources, none of which I have any sort of expertise with. Overall, I think it turned out quite nicely.

Enjoy! Comments and Critique are encouraged, so plug away at your heart's content!

Oh yes, just a side note: I did not intent to cut off her legs... I just ran out of room on the paper ^_^;; I always begin drawing at the middle of the page...

In case you wonder (I find I do every now and then) which Copic markers I used for the colouring, they are as follows"
Dress: RV11, Pink
Skin: E21, Baby Skin Pink
Ruffles/Bows/Tongue: R02, Flesh
Bag: E33, Sand
Hair: 100, Black
Eye: E25, Caribe Cocoa
For shadows I just put another coat of the same colour on top after the first coat has dried. Save some money that way. *shrug*

very nice, markers are not my friends lol. but yes, it is a very nice picture! great job! as for critique, i dunno, perphaps you should try doign highlights on the clothes like do what you were doing for the shadows but do that for the base color (highlights would be just one coat) and then the shadows three coats. i dunno, im not very good with the whole critique thing, especially on people ^^;
:iconkonayashi:
Mm, that would be good. The only thing is that third coats don't show up well, they just look like blotches in the second coat. If I had more colours (that match) I would definately do highlights ^_^;;

That's quite all right n_n I find I'm at a loss for words (beyond "nice") sometimes as well.
:iconmirzers:
ew, well that's not fun
lol
:iconjo-jo21:
It's very pretty, you must post up the manga or a sample of it at some point ;P
:iconkonayashi:
Thank you, I do intend to eventually ^_^ Currently the manga doesn't have a concrete plot, though, so I've been putting off starting it.
:iconjo-jo21:
Lol, that's ok, sometimes the best stuff takes a while to conjur up  when it comes i'm sure it'll be very enjoyable =)
:iconkonayashi:
I certainly hope so XD
:iconmikachu:
Dunno why, but markers always make
the images look so crisp. This one is very
well coloured, I believe. I mean, I certainly
wouldn't be able to do such a nice job. Let
alone even touch a marker, something permanent
which I can't change if I screw up, to any of my
stuff. o_o'''

Overall though, I do like how you've managed
to keep the blending consistent. It is a skill that
I admire in all artists. Including you as well, of course =p

Anyway, keep at it and I'm sure you'll come out
on top! And thank you for adding one of mine to
your faves. It is highly appreciated.

Trade Secret #1: Colour on a photocopy XD That way you can always try again with another copy of the original. I don't really even like inking the original, I'm too afraid I will mess up!
Trade Secret #2: Draw small. Fewer large planes of colour to try to blend. My friend always asks me to colour these truly HUGE (by my standards) pictures, and I never like the result because it comes out streaky.
There are a bunch of other things to do, too (like NEVER USE TOMBO! I hate those things... they NEVER come out well blended...), but I have to say that the brand of marker I use, Copic, really helps so much. The ink "assimilates" (I think that's the term they use) when it's wet better than water-based markers, so it doesn't come out as streaky.

Besides that, how could I not add your picture to my faves? It's really beautiful!
